Today’s feature is no stranger to fine dressing or Trend Customer Tailors. The young Toronto dandy once again visited us for a custom creation which resulted in being one of his favourite Trend garments to date.
In the world of menswear, the navy suit seems to be the current rage. Well dressed men from Patrick Dempsey to Zayn Malik have all tried their hand at the dark blue suit trend this season but our featured client decided to go against the grain and revert back to a more classic colour choice. Informally known as the Grey Pick-and-Pick Suit, this finely crafted garment is made of a medium grey worsted wool in a pick-and-pick twill weave taken from the House of Scabal. The cut of this masterpiece is a two-button single-breasted peaked lapel jacket outfitted with double vents with minimal padding. To create the illusion of a naturally strong build, this suit features sufficient shoulder roping of the sleeve heads. A look both the wearer and onlookers can enjoy. The arm holes of the jacket are made high with extra drape for our client’s back muscles while the chest displays a deeper V-opening with just enough waist suppression to gently flare out in the length of the jacket. This gives off the look of a tapered V-shaped build. Inside of the jacket — right above our client’s signature — the maxim “Probitas laudatur et alget” is sewn in a radiant red thread. This phrase directly translates to “Honesty is praised and starved.” Giving this suit a philosophical personality in addition to exclusive style. The trousers are outfitted with a button fly closure as well as a Daks style button waistband which removes the need for belt loops, allowing the suit to display a consistent flow of elegance, exceptionally shown off by the wearer. The pick-and-pick trousers also feature a “Swallowtail” single inverted pleat that directs the viewer’s gaze down the pant leg to the smart and classic cuff.
The look is finished with a shawl lapel 8×4 double-breasted waistcoat with hand-sewn buttonholes cut to display a luxe, yet minimal, rose pink E.Marinella 9-fold tie done in a blue diamond pattern. Our client brilliantly accessorizes his grey suit with a white silk handkerchief, an Edelweiß boutonnière and a pair of navy calf Crockett & Jones oxfords.
While the modern dandy may find his aesthetic calls for the finest navy suit, this young gentleman finds comfort in reviving a classic diligently crafted by the Trend team.
