We feature many suits and jackets, but haven’t featured many custom shirts. Custom shirts are quickly becoming a hot ticket item as more people realize the value of a well fitting shirt. When purchasing retail shirts, a man usually determines the size by his neck measurement and sleeve length. This poses a problem for many men particularly if they have a wide neck, broad shoulders and/or shorter or longer arms. All these factors rarely line up to give a good fit. This is especially true as many menswear stores now lean towards a slim fit and a leaner build, while the problem in the past was that the shirt sleeves were so large and billowy they were distracting. Trends come and go but fit remains and will be the biggest advantage you gain.
Women’s shirts are completely different as they often go by bust size, cup size, and waist. Those are possibly even more impossible to find but there will be more on that in a separate post on women’s shirts.
Getting a custom shirt, like our featured pieces, really show off the wearers personality on top of being durable and long lasting. These shirts were made for the same patron and have similar features. This patron wanted light summer shirts, in lime and light salmon colours. They feature a slot seam on 'the fall' of the collar and a lino print hand stamped under collar that was designed in-house. The buttons were also custom dyed in contrasting colours. There is contrast fabric in both the inside of the collar and the barrel cuffs, which have a metered edge.
